Prairie Thunder Ranch is a performance horse breeding farm. We raise Holsteiners and Warmbloods. Our goal is to always produce exceptional
sporthorses with the correct build and personality to perform at the highest levels of competition. We usually have purebreds and partbreds available for sale and breeding. If we do not have what you are looking for please feel free to contact us anyway. We may be able to refer you to someone who does have the horse you are looking for. Our ranch is situated on the beautiful grass lands of western South Dakota. We have a great view of the Black Hills and of the magestic Bear Butte. Bear Butte is sacred to the indians of this area, and it is also quite beautiful. The advantage of living on the plains is the availability of good grass lands for grazing the horses and for cutting our own hay. Over the spring and summer months the young horses and the broodmares enjoy their days grazing on about 150 acres of good grass. In the winter months all the horses are moved closer to the barn and are free fed hay from big round bales that we cut and bale ourselves. The photo to the right is of a beautiful December sunset taken from our front yard.

Congratulations Lisa and Tiara!
We would like to extend a big congratulations to Lisa Graf and her mare Tiara (Legado De Fuego X She's got A Spot APHA)on there great success showing last year. In their first show season these two earned Senior Adult Amateur training level champion for the year for EDCTSA and they had the highest average score with a 69.4%. They also finished 10th for the year overall for Senior Adult Amateur for training level with the NCDCTA out of a very large number of competitors. On top of all of that they also earned a 70% in training level test 4 giving them one qualifying score for the Great American Insurance championships for 2010. We are very proud of you both and we know with your skill and wonderful training the sky is the limit for you two. Have a wonderful 2010 show season!
Foals got big scores at 2009 RPSI Inspections!
When presented with the RPSI in 2009 our two foals did amazing! Contessa by Coromino and out of Star Spangled PT pictured top left scored an impressive 7.8 for type and 8.2 movement making her average 8.0 and placing her as a Gold Premium filly . Laredo (pictured top right) is by Legado De Fuego and out of Kamille. He really outdid himself and scored an amazing 8.0 for conformation and 8.8 for movement! His average was 8.4 making him Gold Premium and ranking him with the top scoring colts in the nation! He received commments such as "super uphill movement in all three gates right from the first step". We are very proud of these two. We are keeping Contessa to add to our breeding program but Laredo is offered for sale.
